Check in time for cabins

Check in time for your overnight getaway in one of our cabins is anytime after 4:00 pm.  Check out 12 noon.

 

What's in the cabin?

Our cozy log cottages provide a secluded and memorable overnight stay and is equipped with running water, electricity (but no electronics), keurig coffee maker with various coffee flavours, wine glasses, cork screw,  jacuzzi bath tub and woodstove .  Check in time for cabin rentals is 4:00 pm.

 

Snowshoeing

We have 2 bearpaw snowshoes available to lend to guests who wish to explore the property.

 

Hiking

We do have trails to explore in spring, summer and fall - please wear stable shoes with good traction.  Our trails cover bush and mountain terrain.

Rose Valley opened in July of 1998.  
The original homestead was established in 1909.

 

Rose Valley Lodge & Restaurant is nestled on 440 spectacular acres of meadows, forest and ancient mountains, therefore Rose Valley offers opportunities for hiking on nature trails, bird and wildlife watching, wilderness skiing and snow shoeing, and a variety of workshops / retreats.

We feel privileged to live in Northern Ontario, one of the pristine and rugged wilderness destinations that is easily accessible.  The area is rich is lakes, rivers, waterfalls, wildlife, birds, canyons, cliffs and interesting people.

Our philosophy is to share and protect the natural beauty and unique wilderness opportunities as well as to provide world class service in hospitality.  Spend a rejuvenating night in one of our two rustic log cabins, complete with Jacuzzi bath tub.  It's the perfect ending to your delectable meal.


 

We are by reservation only  
One dinner sitting at 7:00 pm
First reservation chooses the main entree for that evening.
Open Thursday to Sunday and other days upon request.


Who are we?

Markus Hofmann, Swiss Hotelier and his wife Deborah Poole-Hofmann.






 










 

Our blended family consists of five children; Vera (Josh), Lukas (Melanie), Dustin, Riley and Eric.  Grandchildren - Oliver, Uma and another on the way



We have large love of animals, here's who's in the collection so far:

    Our Dogs:  Lady, Homer, Pippa, Charlie and little Binnie
    Our Cats:   Leo, and Salt
    Our Horses:  Dream, Rih, Sabah
    Various Farm Animals:   Freckles (sheep),
    Betty (goat),  Loretta, Winnie and Mandela (geese), 
    various chickens, and pigeons,
    and a miniature Mule (Boog)
    plus a couple of rescue rabbits (Norbert, Midnight and Honey Bunny)

1909         is the estimated date Tissari family moved to Gillies Township
1969         Ellafern moved to Gillies to start I am Ashram
                  (Waino Tissari stayed on to help out)
1973        David Nobel moved to Thunder Bay
1975        Ashram shut down (Ellafern stayed for 11 years after it closed)
1984        Unicorn Inn started (August 25, 1984)
1998        Rose Valley Lodge & Restaurant opened (July)
